There’s a cliched notion that porn stars are just working at breaking into Hollywood. Perhaps that’s true for some of the men and women doing it on film in the Valley, but more likely than not, folks following that career path are set to be relegated to low-rent productions your younger brother hordes on his hard-drive, waiting for a moment alone.

Sasha Grey, for some inexplicable reason, has actually moved past porn and appeared in videos by the Roots and Chicago’s own Smashing Pumpkins. Modeling a bit for the likes of Vice magazine and American Apparel hasn’t hurt the attempted transition either. Even Steven Soderbergh’s The Girlfriend Experience counted Grey in its cast—though she was almost universally panned.

Disregarding her mainstream reception, Grey’s still angling for stardom. Her tenure in porn hasn’t hurt. In the endless march towards mainstream recognition she hosted the Porn on the Fourth party at Vision, continuing the patriotic porn theme that’s characterized Chicago nightlife on recent Independence Days. It appears Grey didn’t take it all off—a few other partiers look like they got pretty close.
